Memories, Sentimentality, Wonderment, Exploration. The art of perpetual motion.
To travel, to discover, to dream, to explore, to hitchhike across a dusty roadway in Costa Rica, or talk endlessly with strangers in a dark pub in Northern Scotland.

I am pondering the concept of sentimentality through my own memories. This draws me to create trinket-sized sculptures as well as wearable, moveable objects. My work discusses fragments of memory, either through narrative or through abstract form. These experiences are captured, like snap-shots, in time.

My work is known for its whimsical nature, with serpentine line quality attached to travel-related archetypes such as balloons and winding roads. My cityscapes and countrysides echo of subtle personality and a dreamlike mood. I make the pieces accessible through the use of repetition and everyday objects, yet still strive to invoke symbolism in the objects and their compositions. Since sculpture is within our 3-dimensional world I make every effort towards good craftsmanship so the pieces may be handled and interactive. Since they are based strongly off of physical experience, an important part of the work is that they be physically experienced.

Most recently I have currently begun to work inward, concentrating on the internal journey of identity, and the metamorphosis we go through as we pass through the gates of age. I am analyzing my own self of identity—as a woman, as a world nomad in a global age, and as a Thai-Chinese-American. While still carrying a moderate obsession of the aesthetics of building and roads I am beginning the construction of new characters that add to my visual narratives. Some want to be made out of silver and stand alone in the spotlight while some insist they be made of cardboard and painted gold to mock the other shiny ones. Either way they all seem to be a new interesting mix of players that re-introduce themselves to me daily. We'll see what we come up with together…
