Memories, Sentimentality, Wonderment, Exploration. To travel, to discover, to dream, to explore, to hitchhike across a dusty roadway in Costa Rica, or talk with endlessly with strangers in a dark pub in Scotland. My visual research of perpetual motion compels me to create trinket-sized sculptures as well as wearable, moveable objects which discuss fragments of memory, either through narrative or through abstract form.
My work is known for its whimsical nature, with serpentine line quality attached to travel related archetypes such as balloons and winding roads. My cityscapes and country sides echo of subtle personality and a dreamlike mood. Through the use of repetition and everyday objects I strive to invoke symbolism in the objects and their compositions. Since sculpture is within our 3-dimensional world and since they are based strongly off of physical experience, an important part of the work is that they be handled and interactive.
